So I'm just chilling out at college, learning and whatnot, and I just dread having to hear the sound of chalk banging on the chalkboard. It is the worst, but I cannot do anything about it except for, WHY DO WE NOT USE DRY ERASE BOARDS? I mean, come on Mizzou, you're a college. Invest some money in some dry erase boards. This just makes me mad, between $20,000 and $40,000 a student and we are still using chalk boards? This is not the 70s.
Chalk boards are the most inefficient thing ever, you can write much faster and way more clearer on dry erase boards. I'm all about efficiency, and the university should be as well. Also, another thing they are doing that makes me mad is the fact that they are wasting a bunch of money to put together a plan to make the university smoke free. Not only is this dumb because last time I checked, we were in America and can smoke if we want to, but also, there are much better things to spend my money on like dry erase boards.

Not only does this describe the importance of a good suit, but also the art of self-accomplishment, the way the world works, and the occasional opinions of mine. Enjoy.

Going Off the Beaten Path.
This is not going to be about the terrible idiom named in the title. Let me tell you a story. So yesterday, I was doing a solo flight from Columbia to Sullivan, MO. A couple hours before I was scheduled to leave, I got my map out and put together a flight plan. I used landmarks every ten minutes or so to make sure I didn't get lost. It was a solid plan. So now it's 1:00 and I'm just chilling up in the sky heading along my designated path. To make a long story short, I got lost. IN THE SKY. This is just one of the most nerve wracking experiences I've ever had to deal with. I couldn't see any cities nearby and all of my landmarks were covered in snow. It was just terrible. I got my phone out to check the GPS, no service. That sucked a lot. I didn't think I would ever make it back. I was writing my will out just in case they found me after I ran out of gas and died. I was preparing my letter of how I died so to save the authorities some time in the investigation. Now since I was caught up doing all that stuff, I wasn't paying any attention to where I was at. So now I'm really lost. I tuned the radio to the station the Sullivan airport uses and thankfully I could hear people talking. So then I looked around and found the airport. Everything worked out and I didn't die. On the way back to Columbia, the same thing happened. It was equally as nerve wracking.
Also, I'm typing this on my ipad because of apple's inferior hard drives they put into their computers. See, us conservatives can adapt.

The perils of Apple Hard Drives.
So the hard drive in my Macbook Pro crashed today. This is the second time in less than 3 months. I've about had it with Apple's hard drives. Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to keep using Apple's stuff. It's performance is good and whatnot, I'm just going to complain about their products for a long time.
When I bought my computer, I was asked if I wanted to purchase Applecare. Unfortunately, it costs like $300 extra of some dumb amount more. So of course, sticking to my capitalist ways, I declined. For two years, my computer was just awesome. It was fast and everything worked. Then December 2012 rolls around and everything just decides that it's done. Just out of nowhere, my computer freezes and I go to restart it. When I did that, I got the dreaded "folder with a question mark in it" logo. This means the computer can't access the boot files from the hard drive. So I go to do the recovery deal that Mountain Lion's running now, but the geniuses put the recovery inside the hard drive, so since the hard drive isn't responding, there's no recovery disk. I was so mad.
I head on over to the Apple Store where they tell me that my hard drive is dead. So naturally I tell them to fix it. They send me home and I come back the next day to a $230 bill and a new hard drive with nothing on it. I wasn't happy about that except for the fact that the repair cost less than Applecare so at least I didn't lose as much money on the deal as was expected.
Everything was all good for the next few months and I go to turn my computer on again today, and there it was. The question mark. This really irritated me. This happened again. So this weekend, I have to go do the same thing with the Apple Store all over again. Except this time I won't be nearly as happy as last time, first because I've got a whole album just waiting to be released in my Garageband folder, and second, I have to pay another $230 with brings the grand total of all my repairs to $460. That's $160 more than if I would have just paid for Applecare two years ago. I'm going to lose money on this deal.

The Essence of Business
About 2. That's how many times a day I hear someone say, "Corporations have too much power." That is not necessarily true. But I'm not going to get into my beliefs about that. Let me explain something to all you "Big Business Haters" out there. A corporation is just a group of people who provide a service to society for as long as society continues to provide for the business. It's called the free market. If you are angry about certain conglomerates having a bunch of influence or do not like the way it's run, the easiest way to alleviate the problem is to drive them out of business by either creating a better product for cheaper or simply by not providing enough capital to the business for it to succeed. For instance, if GE wants to continue to exist, it must provide a quality product that people buy. If no one buys it, GE will cease to exist. It is as simple as that. If you complain that big business is bad but still use all of their products, you have no room to complain and you're just being a hypocrite. I promise you that if there is not enough capital coming in, the business will go out of business. That's the way it works. Or at least in America anyway, since we are not socialist and businesses are not controlled by the government. There are no free government bailouts of large companies as there are banks, if the government does bailout a company, the company is required, in principle, to repay those funds. That's not necessarily how it actually works unfortunately. When the government doesn't require some company to return payment, for instance General Motors, then that is an instance of the government having too much power and when that situation happens, the party in office now has voters forever. Some say that big businesses have control of the government but what the case, in my opinion, is that large businesses and the government are completely autonomous of each other until the government decides to be involved and in that case, the government controls the businesses which is in no way ideal towards the free market and its prosperity. That's a bit to much like socialism and I'm not a fan of that. But anyway, that's my two cents about business.

Pilot.
As you may have gathered from the title, this is my first post, or the "Pilot" if you will. I will take the time to discuss the title of my blog, "The Importance of a Good Suit". For all you suit lovers out there, you have come to the right place.
Now, let's discuss when it is appropriate to wear a suit. All the time. But really, a well fitting suit will always be in style. It is a timeless outfit, that, if you own the right kind of suit, that can be worn in absolutely every situation, I promise.
Notice that I used the term, "well fitting". That is because no one looks worse than someone wearing a poorly fitting suit. I'm not telling all of you to go spend some money on getting a suit tailored, like I do, just make sure that the size you bought is actually the correct size. I wear a 42R, if anyone was looking for some gift ideas. Just remember, a $20 tailor job can make a $200 suit look like a $500 suit. So if you have the chance, GET A TAILOR.
Not all suits are appropriate for all times of the year. During the winter months, I usually will wear either a black or a dark grey one. These are just your standard colors and can be worn all year, rather than just the winter months. The three piece suit is always an option. I mean, look at Justin Timberlake, that's all he wears and damn he looks good. But anyway, the grey suit. Personally, it is my favorite suit, if worn properly and at the right time. Lighter greys are a spring and summer color. I promise you, you do not want to be the only one in a group of people that is wearing a grey suit in the middle of winter. Just trust me don't do it. Moving on from grey, is the linen suit. Linen is a super classy fabric for suits to be made of, but they are FOR SUMMER ONLY. Do not wear a linen suit in the winter. First of all, they are made very thinly and light colored because they are specifically to be worn in the summer, and water will completely ruin it, so winter and spring is out.
The best thing to go with a suit is a good cologne. Let's say that again, a good cologne. Good. Not any of this $20 cologne you buy at Walgreens. Go out to Macy's and get yourself a $70 or $80 bottle of some real stuff. Like Armani, Gucci, or Dolce & Cabbana. Those guys don't mess around when it comes to cologne. If your out during the day, use something a little lighter and citrusy, save the musk for when your out on the town. Night cologne is where you really want to wear your best. Look for something real manly smelling, something with some leather, tobacco, or woods. Those will really liven your night up. Throw a little on behind the ear and your good to go.
Just remember, in order to be successful, you have to be the best looking guy in the room
