As you may have gathered from the title, this is my first post, or the "Pilot" if you will. I will take the time to discuss the title of my blog, "The Importance of a Good Suit". For all you suit lovers out there, you have come to the right place.
Now, let's discuss when it is appropriate to wear a suit. All the time. But really, a well fitting suit will always be in style. It is a timeless outfit, that, if you own the right kind of suit, that can be worn in absolutely every situation, I promise.
Notice that I used the term, "well fitting". That is because no one looks worse than someone wearing a poorly fitting suit. I'm not telling all of you to go spend some money on getting a suit tailored, like I do, just make sure that the size you bought is actually the correct size. I wear a 42R, if anyone was looking for some gift ideas. Just remember, a $20 tailor job can make a $200 suit look like a $500 suit. So if you have the chance, GET A TAILOR.
Not all suits are appropriate for all times of the year. During the winter months, I usually will wear either a black or a dark grey one. These are just your standard colors and can be worn all year, rather than just the winter months. The three piece suit is always an option. I mean, look at Justin Timberlake, that's all he wears and damn he looks good. But anyway, the grey suit. Personally, it is my favorite suit, if worn properly and at the right time. Lighter greys are a spring and summer color. I promise you, you do not want to be the only one in a group of people that is wearing a grey suit in the middle of winter. Just trust me don't do it. Moving on from grey, is the linen suit. Linen is a super classy fabric for suits to be made of, but they are FOR SUMMER ONLY. Do not wear a linen suit in the winter. First of all, they are made very thinly and light colored because they are specifically to be worn in the summer, and water will completely ruin it, so winter and spring is out.
The best thing to go with a suit is a good cologne. Let's say that again, a good cologne. Good. Not any of this $20 cologne you buy at Walgreens. Go out to Macy's and get yourself a $70 or $80 bottle of some real stuff. Like Armani, Gucci, or Dolce & Cabbana. Those guys don't mess around when it comes to cologne. If your out during the day, use something a little lighter and citrusy, save the musk for when your out on the town. Night cologne is where you really want to wear your best. Look for something real manly smelling, something with some leather, tobacco, or woods. Those will really liven your night up. Throw a little on behind the ear and your good to go.
Just remember, in order to be successful, you have to be the best looking guy in the room
Suit Up.
